As per the Census 2011 out of total population of Goa, 62.17% people lived in urban regions while 37.83% in rural areas. The total figure of population of urban population was 906,814 out of which 463,704 were males while remaining 443,110 were females. In rural areas of Goa, male population was 275,436 while female population was 276,295.

The average sex ratio in urban regions of Goa was 956 females per 1000 males. Also the Child (0-6 age) sex ration of urban areas in Goa was 940 girls per 1000 boys.
