Tamil Nadu Urban/Rural Population - Census 2011

As per the Census 2011 out of total population of Tamil Nadu, 48.4% people lived in urban regions while 51.6% in rural areas. The total figure of population of urban population was 34,917,440 out of which 17,458,910 were males while remaining 17,458,530 were females. In rural areas of Tamil Nadu, male population was 18,679,065 while female population was 18,550,525.

The average sex ratio in urban regions of Tamil Nadu was 1,000 females per 1000 males. Also the Child (0-6 age) sex ration of urban areas in Tamil Nadu was 952 girls per 1000 boys. Thus the total children (0-6 age) living in urban areas of Tamil Nadu were 3,512,530 which is 10.06% of total urban population.
